Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced FileMaker Developer to join our client’s Replenishment Innovation team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating, enhancing, and maintaining custom FileMaker solutions that drive operational efficiency across the organization. The successful candidate will bring strong FileMaker Pro/Pro Advanced expertise, enjoy problem-solving, and thrive in both independent and team-oriented work environments. You’ll contribute to ongoing initiatives and help shape the development of new projects throughout the company.
This is a full-time, salaried position with a hybrid work environment. Candidates must be located in or near Montreal, Quebec.
Responsibilities

Develop, customize, and support FileMaker applications tailored to retail and operational needs

Analyze business requirements and transform them into user-friendly, high-performing FileMaker solutions

Deploy solutions across multiple platforms including iOS (FileMaker Go), Windows, macOS, and WebDirect

Create intuitive layouts and interfaces, optimize scripts and calculations, and define data relationships and reporting structures

Configure and maintain FileMaker Server environments — including backups, troubleshooting, scheduled scripts, PSoS, performance, SSL, and version upgrades

Implement and oversee security standards such as access control, account/privilege management, and external authentication

Prepare technical documentation and provide support to users and internal teams

Participate in evaluating new technologies, integrations, and architectural enhancements (REST APIs, third-party tools, etc.)

Produce accurate reports based on database data to support organizational decision-making

Work closely with IT and business departments to ensure solutions are reliable, scalable, and aligned with internal policies
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline

At least 4 years of hands-on experience developing FileMaker Pro/Pro Advanced solutions, including scripting, relational architecture, UI/UX, and reporting

Experience in retail or product-based industries is considered an advantage

FileMaker certification is preferred

Strong knowledge of FileMaker Server administration on macOS and/or Windows, including performance monitoring and backup procedures

Experience working with FileMaker WebDirect deployments

Understanding of container management approaches (secure/open, internal/external storage)

Proficiency with APIs, integrations, JSON, REST, and cURL

Familiarity with SQL and connecting FileMaker to external databases (ESS, ODBC)

Solid knowledge of performance optimization techniques (indexing, script improvement, layout efficiency)
